witch's pot

The day before yesterday, a single, magnificent storm rolled up against the mountains. Before spawning tornadoes east of here, it boiled and brewed overhead like a witch's pot. I stepped out the door with my camera and started shooting. I tried, but there's no way I can choose only one of these pictures for this post. More would be too much to believe, so for now, here's just the first one.

Okay, one more. But I'm saving the rest for later.

I see what you mean. It looks as though you were in the pot.

How wonderful. Looking forward to each one you post.

Another serious storm has hit the west coast and is keeping us tied up at the dock. Better to be safe than to be in the midst of a small craft warning area!

Great photos! I love dramatic skies (especially when I am tied up at the the dock).

Melinda, I WAS in the pot. There was a chance lightening would stir the soup. The dog thought I was nuts. I was.

Katherine, don't take chances. Like me.

Wow! It's amazing how dark the clouds became! Stay safe out there.

Oooh, thanks for showing this, Sam. I love those menacing storm skies where you can just hunker down (fine as long as you're indoors). Looking forward to seeing more!

Oooo, you're right, these are awesome. In both senses of the word.
The first one reminds me of an Astrid pastel.

I wouldn't walk out there with a PLASTIC camera, but you are one fearless chronicler.
I hate/am awed by storms like these and if I could push my trembling dog out of the closet to make room for me, I would.
