culture clash

I'm B-A-A-ack.
From the sublime...

to the ridiculous...

When I opened the shade on the plane in the morning,
it was clear that it had snowed in the mountains.
Aside from that shock, re-entry was gentle;
the first day back here was 65 degrees.

Joke's on me.
Now it's 14 and going down to 15 below zero tomorrow night.
I'm humbled and holed up in the studio.

P.S. This my blog, so I get to make amends.
Both of these places are ridiculously sublime.

But holed up in our studios is the best possible place we can be during this ridiculous weather. Let's just pray our heat keeps working! (If mine doesn't, I think I'll have to come to YOUR studio.)

Wowee! I love the photos!! Welcome home! The dogs and the rest of us welcome you back with wagging tails and happy smiles (I'll let the dogs do the barking and licking).

That's some extreme cold you have over there! Stay bundled up, but keep the puka shells handy.

Icicles hanging off of puka shells are sublimely ridiculous fashion statements, but trends have started in stranger places.

welcome back. Hope you had a great time. Based on that sunset, I'm gonna go with yes.

Holed up in a studio is not so bad. Better than holed up in an office. Stay warm!

Hi Laura--
Good to hear from you. I'm glad you enjoyed the vicarious trip!

Carol--
The birds have stripped the junipers of berries, and the squirrels are begging at the door (the dog wants to let 'em in). This monster storm is reaching out to touch everyone. Believe me, I'm very grateful for this "hole" I'm in.

Ye, it is so cold here! We just booked a trip to Costa Rica and looking at that photo makes me glad we did!

Pam--
This kind of beastly cold kills brain cells. Costa Rica sounds like a very good idea. Take pictures of palm trees. Wriggle your toes in the sand. It'll all do you good!

Hawaii is sublime and so isn't that incredible aerial photo of the snow caped mountains!
