sketches

Some things happen in my sketchbook
that can't happen anywhere else.

It's full of big ideas.
Not every one will get out alive.

Two of my own dog's very best old dog friends
died within a couple of days of each other.
It was a tough week for us all.
I wondered if he knew... if he misses them.
Poor guy.

When I got home after saying goodbye and thanks
to Jala's Jazzy,
I did the drawing at the top left (click twice).
I tried to do a 9x12 pastel from it,
but it was clear no painting could ever say it
better than this little thumbnail.

Like I said,
not every one will get out alive.

so sorry about your fur-friend's fur friend ...it is the only thing about having and knowing animals that is inexplicable. Why must they leave us? I love the thumbnail--thanks for sharing it with us.

I'm really missing Jazzy right now.

Great sketch of Jala with Jazzy -- full of feeling and solemnity. Sorry for the losses, too. If only pets had longer lifespans ... like parrots!

Kvan--
The sketch is of someone(?) comforting a dog(?). In any case, it's good medicine for us humans to reach out to another species.

I couldn't comment on my first visit--I had just made a last visit to a dog friend, Elvisphound, who has cancer. Wonderful sketch; I've found that the emotion goes into the first drawing--can't be copied.

Yes, that first sketch choked me up even before I read your text. It's so lovely and gentle. It may be a tiny sketch be boy does it speak volumes.

Tchao-wow,
