pity points

I'm getting a tooth pulled today. Not by a doorknob, but by someone who does this sort of thing for a living. Why, you couldn't pay me enough!  Like, what kind of a person is that anyway, and do I really want him to have his hands in my mouth? It's not the first time for me, so don't try saying, "Oh, it's not that bad." I know that already. Ever since I scheduled this, my mind has been on tomorrow, the day after. But for today, I'll have to be "in the moment", when I'd rather be anywhere else, and settle for novocain, nitrous, arnica, Advil, Traumeel and soup on my shirt.

To demonstrate my good humor in the face of impending doom, I tried to find a funny cartoon or youtube about tooth extraction, but I didn't think they were funny at all. So I'll do my best and try to bite the blade instead of the sicko's fingers.

I would so rather be painting.

Oh, dear. You have my sympathy and empathy and pity. Why is it that the Novocaine sometimes doesn't work and why is it all so unpleasant?!

You have a fantastic photo, though. Almost made me laugh out loud, but then, I was afraid to expose my teeth...

Best wishes with the whole thing. May you be back painting sooner than you think possible.

Thanks for the pity point, though you should, excuse the expression, bite your tongue about the Novocaine not working. It did work.

The guy was built like a linebacker, has never seen a tooth he couldn't whup and I was back home in less than an hour.

The nitrous killed a couple of brain cells, so I think I'll take this opportunity to go wild and crazy with the pastels.

You're on a roll.
Like the image of the Madonna on a piece of french toast.
Losing teeth is only mildly fun when you're a child, knew they'd grow back and didn't have to consider the cost of a crown, unless it was on Barbies' head.
Paint tomorrow, perhaps?

Ugh.
"I didn't think they were funny at all": nope, nothing at all funny about having dental work done. Except for the nitrous.

Oh, you poor thing! Dental stuff is never any fun and even worse when something so BIG has to happen. Extra pity points from me.

Wear a bib to avoid soup on your shirt and only smile when the left and right side of your mouth are in agreement.

Thanks everyone for all the pity points. Who couldn't use a few now and then? Funny thing about the nitrous... if you've got a sailor's sense of humor or that of the dentist's assistant, you would've thought I was hilarious. Actually, she did and I was. A good time was had by all. :D

Katherine, the right and the left never agree.

Hi Samartdog – you have my total unreserved sympathy – I’ve been there done that and I know the feeling! I have many wonderful friends with gaps – it doesn’t detract, it gives depth and character. I love the bread sculpture – v. brilliant and witty.
