in the meantime

For the last few weeks, I've been re-acquainting myself with my acrylics. Pastels were beginning to make my mouth go dry; I longed for something more liquid. That good dog, Howl, welcomed me back with a fun and almost effortless painting. There actually is no such thing, is there... but it did seem to flow like a river. So to speak. I've been dipping my toes in the water ever since.

I forgot how maddening acrylics can be. Moan. I won't go into detail here. Suffice it to say, no medium is without its drawbacks. Complaining about them is nothing but bitchy when what is called for is more effort. So I've been busy climbing my learning curve. Whew! It's a real fourteener.

In the meantime, in order to maintain any semblance of arty satisfaction, I've been indulging in that addictive iPhone Pollock app. Brilliant color with no muss, no fuss. Best of all, just shake to erase.

Here are some of my recent faves:

I'm having entirely too damn much fun!
Just so you know,
I'm sweating bullets over a couple of actual canvases.
Coming soon...

ooooooo I very much approve of your results from the iphone Pollock app. My favorite is #2. I would definitely hang that on a wall.

DON'T MAKE ME GET AN iPHONE! These are fab and I wish my crackberry had an app like that.

Celeste--I like that second one, too. But you'd think all us artists were born in a barn (my mother says I act like I was); we all harken back to painting the old homestead at least once. A barn is easy bait.

Carol--get thee to an Apple store asap! It's a great way to hum out on the subway. Plus, it'll help you 'spess your hilariosity to no end. And the Pollock app? It BEGS a water tower!

Sam, these look like too much fun--surely it's not legal!

These are bold and fun! I like the drips and drops and bright colors. When do we get to see the acrylic paintings?!

I'll say it again--I have iphone envy. These look like fun.

The word "fun" sure seemed to take hold with all of you. I never should have admitted to it, but I won't take it back. Doing what you love is always fun, whether you admit it or not. Calling it "work" is so puritan, but hey, 'tis the season. Back to the grindstone. Have a fun day, everyone!
