gold coast

No matter what I think I'm doing,
things rarely end up looking anything like what I expected.

This painting was a total surprise.

Looks pretty good. What were you expecting?

Whoever's painting when you're "out of body" is a keeper. A beautiful surprise.

and a good surprise at that! I know what you mean about sometimes being surprised at the outcome....sometimes I see the end clearly....other times NO! haha. I really like how this came out. :)

Some surprises are good things! Like this painting!

It could be anywhere, but seems familiar. Golden land and blue sky and water -- my kind of place!

I always assume the painting knows better than I do.

I think the ones that are a surprise to us are the ones in which we have allowed our intuition to play with us. A lot of the time the 'painterly editor' sits on our shoulder saying - what, that colour! why that weird shape? auntie margaret won't like that... and so on. And we are so used to doing as we are told we listen to her.
I wrote all this long thing then I saw your simple reply which says it all.

And a very nice surprise. Also my favorite color combo (well, this one and also blue + orange).
