cheerful wheels

Some wheels just make you smile.

Some smile right back.

They do smile! I used to ride in cars like this--no a/c. (Maybe that's why hairspray was invented.)

I recently bought a Nissan Cube. Its "face" and shape are why I bought it though I tell others it's because it's so practical for carting things around.

Nothing like good car design. I love the yellow. My first car was a yellow '77 Honda Civic and I actually saw its twin a couple days ago. Almost crashed ogling it as I hadn't seen one for years.

Hallie,
It wasn't that long ago that a/c was an "extra". Was it?

Shirley,
So what color is your Cube? I mean, color is at least as important, isn't it?

Andrea,
My first car was a Mazda RX3 station wagon. Its Wankel rotary engine was very hip, but its turquoise color is what stole my heart.

Is loving a car's design such a girl-thing? I'd like to hear from any of you men out there.

I love both these photos. All my cars, with the exception of one, have been "pals" of mine. (The 62 Falcon was unfriendly and left me too many places for me to build any affection for it). I want that yellow truck!

Celeste,
Don't you currently own a sweet blue Triumph?

My first car was a 1972 Ford Torino. It was six years old and I bought it for 250 bucks. Try THAT these days! Anyway, I'll stop and stare at anything made pre-1950...

Wow, Kevin! As far as I'm concerned, all Torinos were muscle cars, dude.
Now, cars are all ubiquitous jelly beans.
