gilding the lily

Even if the beavers manage

to chew through the chicken wire

on the young cottonwoods along the river,

the lichen can still gild their dam lily.

Double "D" said...: Hey, do Beavers need a building permit to build a dam? Maybe there's some sort of sleeping potion that could be sprayer on tree trunks that was like Rapid Roberts Roaring Hot Stump Blower. Seems like that would send them waddling towards the water and away from trees.
