Great piece Sam! I love the gestural component. Coming off a weekend of heat and no sales I'm ready to curl up in the shade too! No time though. Off to Chicago.........

Hey, Brian! Mid-90s here today and freaky UFO humidity, of all things. The weather is buggy everywhere this summer. Good luck in Chi-town. Stay cool and sell big!

How cool is this?!
It looks to me like the dog is lying in a puddle of moonlight. Awesome, dude!

How cool is this? Cooler than it is outside, I hope.
I like your nocturnal take on this. Of course you think this is moonlight; you're a hoot owl. Er, night owl.

Laura
I like your paintings a lot, so I'm glad you like this.

Loriann
Well, nothing's perfect, but coming from you the compliment is. Thanks a lot.

I'm feeling cooler already. It was 106 yesterday, but it'll be dipping down into the 90s this coming weekend.

Until then, I'll come here and look at this excellent work and enjoy the strong diagonals and cooling shade.

And that's why, in spite of how much I love Tucson, I don't live there. But, come to think of it, it's the heat and the way the place and its people deal with it that makes it so cool.

Well done!

Excellent! It feels like shade on a hot day.

Hard to imagine you're in the heat there -- we're bundled up and turning on heaters. 57 this afternoon.

Took a walk through a small Malcolm Island town of Sointula and picked up a big brown Labrador as a companion. We called him Spike (because of his collar). He peed on all the flowers in the cemetery. Class act, old Spike.

Moondoggie-ness personified. Great where you placed him in those bisecting lines and those chilly blue hues.
It's already a hellishy hot summer and it's only June.
Note to all dogs: If you can't take the heat, have Sam do your portraits.

DJ-
Very generous of you. Thanks for the visit.

Kvan (laziness and affection made me do it)-
You and your 50-something degrees---sheesh!

Spike sounds like a hooker. Is he now on the boat with you, whizzing on the yardarm? He's a harbor hustler, so you probably left him behind, you heartless seafarers.

Bonnie-
The drooling line around the block said you sent em

what a great image. I love how the dog's curled up among the angular shapes and his (her?) head is right in the light (sun?) spot.

Spike ditched us to smell the behind of another do at the Co-Op grocery. He was a character, but unfaithful to his core.

Yo Carol,
Glad to see you here! You do good stuff, too. So I left a comment over ta your place.

Sonia,
Glad to hear you liked it. I can rarely tell if it's good or just my ego. This is why blogs are a good thing.

DD,
When I throw a bottle in the ocean, I'm always glad you found it.

This is a wonderful painting, I love the deep tones and the structural balance of the painting. And the dog!
