The rockets have a yellow glare in that field! 4th of July is a big deal in Alaska -- they celebrate being a state and that's pretty sweet thing. Keep the sunny photos coming! I'm sick of rain!

A riot of yellow rockets - in anticipation of tomorrow's celebration!

They are beautiful. Happy July 4th Sam Artdog!

In solidarity, we're having our first rainy (okay-drizzle this a.m., thunderbugs in the p.m.) of the summer. Going to the ranch. Dogs aren't fond of bombs bursting, plus we'll see which wildflowers rule this week. Happy 4th!

Stout little fellows aren't they?
Hope your fourth is quiet and peaceful.

I much prefer these to the ones that take off a carelessly placed finger.
Taking my cue from our dogs, I'd rather be far away from noise and percussion.

Hurricane Alex made it all the way up to Colorado and hit the ranch on the evening of the 4th. I love big weather, so the driving rain, wind, thunder and lightning was far more exciting than any pyrotechnic hoo-hah.

ooooh! I have never seen rockets before! Do they just grow wild?

They're actually wildflowers called, prairie coneflowers. Given the holiday, they reminded me of rockets.
