I never know what my next painting will look like.
They rarely follow logic.
This is one I keep around to play with.
I think I painted the first layer,
oh, maybe 20 years ago.
It was very different... abstract, I think.
This fishing camp appeared last spring.
I like its funky bayou-ness.

Sounds logical to me. But you are letting too much time elapse between painting stages.
Lifeus interruptus, Bob. But I guess life should at least be more than an excuse, eh? Actually, there's always something cooking on the easel. Half-baked, but cooking.
I do see the fishing camp. That is one brilliant-brilliant painting.
Brilliant? Shocking, I'd say. I tried to drown some of that red red red in the swamp. Maybe I'll hold its head under a little longer.
looks great. I feel the mystery and lure of the fish....
im a fan of red lately meeself...
Thanks, Sally. Yes, I also love red, but this might be too much of a good thing. That's the great thing about paint-overs; there's no end in sight.
I'm glad you've continued to work on this...for years. I love the bold colors. I think you have a winner with this one. Unless of course you decide to add to it a year from now.
I may poke at it some more, Carol, but I think it'll always be a swampy get-away.
This painting is so vivid, it comes with the smell of damp wood! I trust the reds, but it is the greens that grab me most!
Thanks for the poetry, Kvan!
Exactly as it should be - painting is not a logical action. I like, like this - that orangey tinge to the bottom red pink shape is just right. Don't you just love doing paint overs?
Yes indeed, Sheila! Paint overs appeal to my Scottish soul.
great abstract!
