I have been professionally accused of being indirect.
Understatement.
This post is a sterling example; let me explain.
With a wild swing from obscurity to brick-upside-the-head,this is a blind dog.
No doubt it would have worked better
if I had just said that to begin with.
"But what kind of art needs a written explanation?",
I asked myself.

The dog is not looking into your eye, and I don't think the dog is asking you to look into his eye. He doesn't see eye to eye.
Exactly.
I thought it was a bad idea to look a dog in the eye. Or is that only when the dog is barking at you and ready to take a bite?
Sam---I totally totally totally LOVE this. It is a beautiful color and the crop is brilliant. I love the accuracy of it..and yet it is warm.
Well, I looked the dog in the eye and found he wasn't looking at me so... I was a bit puzzled. Then I saw the John Steinbeck quote on the right side of your blog and thought your painting was a commentary on dogs thinking humans are nuts. And so we are.

Well, I thought this dog was looking its owner in the eye--the owner being taller! (And I didn't notice the title "seeing eye dog" when I looked earlier.)
He looked sad and beautiful earlier; now that I know he's blind, he still looks sad and beautiful. And I'm sad.
